- From: Dottie Townsend Kahhan, July 2002: "While going through the Denton Journal, I came across a Benjamin Parker Truitt, born Sept 5, 1861 in Wicomico County, MD. The D. J. had his obit in Mar 5, 1910, page 5. He was a minister for a while at the Denton M.P. church. He died in a Baltimore hospital, and was taken to the First M. P. Church of Washington for the service. He was the pastor of that church. It mentions his wife and 3 children, plus a sister, Edna Truitt. Further, I found that the 3 children all died shortly after him. (1) Benjamin Burton Truitt died Dec 1910 in Washington; (2) Alma Wright Truitt died Feb 6, 1911 in Washington (according to D. J. article dated Feb 11, 1911, page 5); and (3) the third child, Charles Lewis Truitt, I haven't found yet. Benjamin's wife's name was Belle T. (no maiden name given) and she died August 23, 1915.I have found the D.J. article dated Aug 31, 1940, from the column "25 years ago this week", where it has her obit. Plus, I found the 1900 census for them, Howard County, MD, ED 84, sheet 10A, lines 14 - 19. His sister Edna is listed there with them.I am having trouble putting him into the Truitt family lineup, but since the name "Parker" is there, I was wondering if he could be part of the Samuel P. Truitt (b. Dec 1800, Worcester; died in Wicomico) family. The only son of Samuel P. I have, so far, is a George W. born 1854. But, this Samuel P.'s father is George Truitt married to Elizabeth Parker..... So I am thinking this might be the family to which this Benjamin Parker Truitt belongs???"
---------
I have been looking for a few days about this Benjamin Parker Truitt. After checking someof the areas of the 1870 Wicomico Co., MD, I have found one family that may match the B.P. Truittmentioned in the D.J. article. The family isn't the one I was thinking it might be. This one is Quantico,Wicomico Co., MD pg 484A. The father is Benjamin W. Truitt age 50, wife Martha age 36, and a son "Benjamin age 9". This may be the family B.P.Truitt belongs in. I am working on the other censuses for this family to track this Benjamin to see if he is the "B.P. Truitt".
